After my first flight in my life with a weird guy that was supposed to be my caretaker for the journey to West-Berlin, we landed in Frankfurt. While he was at the luggage belt another guy with a sailor’s hat approached me. I didn’t speak any English or German and got a bit nervous. He looked at me and offered me a rolled-up magazine.
Reluctantly I took the magazine and opened it in the middle. My face immediately turned red and the guy started laughing himself to tears. It was a PLAYBOY mag (www.iplayboy.com/issue/19850801) and for the first time in my life at age 13, I saw a fully naked woman. Not that we didn’t try to score pictures of naked girls in Tehran but it was before the internet era an almost impossible task.
Even though it was a dream come true it also was a culture shock and I quickly gave him his magazine back, hoping that the incident had not caught the attention of my watchdog. I really didn’t want him to inform my parents that my very first action in Europe had been grabbing a porn magazine from a stranger.
He came back with his luggage, obviously with no idea how dramatically my world had changed in the short time I had been unattended. “Well, it is time to say Goodbye, little fella”, he said with a smirky smile. I stared at him in disbelief. “But you promised my parents to accompany me to the Berlin flight, I have no idea how to get to the gate!”. He said he was in hurry and that I would be fine and left me alone in the arrival area of Frankfurt airport.
